An Interview with Cure8 - MJstack's November Partner of the Month

This month’s official MJstack partner of the month is Cure8, a fellow tech consulting company of sorts. Cure8 provides IT and security services to cannabis businesses throughout the US and Canada. We reached out to their Vice President and cannabis tech thought leader Munir Haque for his thoughts on the partnership and the industry as a whole…

What defines a good B2B partnership to you?

A good B2B partnership is one where you’re both providing real, unique, complimentary value to a client. At Cure8 we don’t partner with just anyone. We’ll meet with partners first and make sure our values align, that the partner is providing a truly valuable product or service, and that they have the same commitment to quality as us.

Why do you value MJstack & their role in cannabis? What value do they bring your clients?

MJstack provides a really important service to cannabis operators. Choosing your software is one of the most important decisions new cannabis operators have to make. You and your employees are going to be using that software pretty much every minute of every day going forward. You’re going to depend on it for all your operations and to stay compliant and maintain all the required data and records. Picking the wrong software can really hurt you, and it’s not easy to switch.

Meanwhile, there is a lot of different cannabis software out there, and not that much unbiased, third-party information. No one has time to do dozens of software demos, and anyway demos can only tell you so much.

MJstack really works with operators, understanding their business model, their budget, their preferences, and helps them find the best software for their needs, or at least narrow down their options. And the MJstack team not only understands the cannabis software landscape better than anyone else, they’re also super knowledgeable about cannabis operations and state and local regulations.

What do you enjoy about working in cannabis?

A lot of things. For one thing, the people in the industry are awesome, both the clients and other partners and vendors we deal with. They’re smart, passionate, driven people. It’s great working with first-time operators in particular, because for a lot of them this is a dream come true, and they’re super passionate and so excited and grateful once they finally open their doors that it rubs off on you.

Second is that cannabis is such a new, unique, and fast-moving industry. There’s really nothing like it. You really feel like what you do matters and that you’re sort of making history in a small way.

Third is that it’s a rewarding business for us. The cannabis industry is so complicated and so new, it’s overwhelming for new operators, and there’s so few people out there that really have experience in the industry and know what they’re doing, and we’re one of them. It’s not just a sales pitch, we’re one of the few – if not the only – companies out there that can help cannabis companies set up and manage their tech in a compliant way, and have a track record of doing it all over the US and Canada.

Any shameless plugs?

You mean in addition to the other shameless plugs we’ve already snuck into our other answers?

Cure8 is a cannabis IT and security services provider. We help cannabis businesses build, manage, and scale their tech and security. That includes IT and security system design, procurement, installation, and 24/7/365 management and support. So far we’ve helped plan and set up the tech for hundreds of cannabis facilities throughout the US and Canada.

We work with all sizes of cannabis businesses, from MSOs to small mom-and-pop operations, and all cannabis verticals, including dispensaries, manufacturers, and cultivators.

We start working with cannabis operators as early as the application and licensing phase, where we can assist with planning and things like security floorplan overlays and equipment lists. Once an operator has selected their software with the help of MJstack, we can then procure the compatible hardware – terminals, printers, cash drawers, networking equipment, etc. – on their behalf, then once their facility is ready (usually once major fixtures are installed and electricity is set up) we can come in and install everything, typically in a day or two. Then we continue to maintain and support your tech from there, so you don’t have to worry about it.

Visit www.cure8.tech for more info, and if you’re going to MJBizCon this month come see us at booth 7208 for a free floorplan review. We’re also excited to announce that at MJBizCon we’ll be officially launching our new site for cannabis tech and security hardware, Prerolled. You can check out the (fully-functional and ready-to-accept-orders) beta site at www.prerolled.io.
